Rights and responsibilty of the patient

 

As a patient at Taff Riverside Practice, you have rights to access healthcare, be treated with respect, and make informed decisions about your care, while also having responsibilities to be proactive in your health management and follow instructions. 

Patient Rights:

  • Access to healthcare:

You have the right to access NHS services free of charge and to be treated by appropriately qualified and experienced staff. 

  • Good quality of care:

You have the right to expect a good quality of care, including being treated with dignity and respect, and having your personal information protected. 

  • Informed decision-making:

You have the right to make decisions about your medications and treatments, and to be fully informed about your health condition and treatment options. 

  • Complaint and feedback:

You have the right to make a complaint if you are not happy with the care you have received. 

  • Respect and confidentiality:

You have the right to be treated with respect and to have your personal information kept confidential. 

  • Independence:

You have the right to make your own decisions about your healthcare, and to be treated as an individual. 

Patient Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in your care:

You have a responsibility to be proactive in your health management, to ask questions, and to share information with your GP.

  • Follow instructions:

You have a responsibility to follow the advice and instructions given by your GP and other healthcare professionals.

  • Be punctual:

You have a responsibility to be punctual for your appointments.

  • Be respectful:

You have a responsibility to be respectful of the staff and other patients.

  • Be honest:

You have a responsibility to be honest and truthful with your GP about your health history and symptoms.
