Home Visit Requests

Home Visits

Remember we have much better facilities for seeing you and examining in the surgery premises. Please ensure you telephone reception before 10:00 if you are requesting a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and the Doctor will also contact you by telephone beforehand to decide if a home visit is appropriate and how urgently a visit is needed.

Under certain circumstances, the GP might feel that telephone advice would be appropriate. Under the GP Terms of Service, he or she may decline to visit and either offer telephone advice, or arrange for you to attend the surgery if appropriate

Reception staff will ask all patients who are requesting a home visit for details of the medical problem and will also take a contact telephone number in order for the Doctor to call the patient back to assess the urgency.  Home visits are only undertaken where they are deemed clinically necessary by the GP.
